This collection contains the call numbers X.d.679 (1-27).
Warrants and orders mainly pertaining to the upkeep of the royal household including: warrants for the provision of furnishings or fabrics for the royal household, specifically Whitehall, Somerset House and St. James'; orders for cleaning furnishings and hangings; warrants for fabrics for the liveries of royal servants, particularly musicians, watermen and gamekeepers. Detail given for the precise fabrics required (in one case prices are quoted), names of servants involved and incidental items of information: a 'suite of Hangings' to be purchased from John Evelyn; a bible, prayer books and chapel furnishings to be provided for the use of Laurence Hyde (later Earl of Rochester) on his embassy to the congress of Nijmegen; the altar cloths of the Chapel Royal to be refurbished 'as the Chappell is now new wainscoted.'
All signed, "Arlington," except X.d.679 (27) signed, "Manchester."
All addressed, "To the R[igh]t Hono[ra]ble Ralph Montagu Esqr. Master of His Ma[jesti]es Great Wardrobe or to his Deputy there." except X.d.679 (27) addressed to Edward Montagu, Earl of Sandwich.
