Scope and Contents

For £3260 for the "absolute purchase" of the manors of Bedford and Nearles in the County of Essex and lands in the parish of Hornchurch in the Liberty of Havering atte Bower and elsewhere in Essex. Of this total amount, £1000 was paid to Philip Matthews' brother Mark Anthony Matthews, and £1200 was paid to his brother Joachim Matthews in discharge of several mortgages made to them. These mortgages have, with Philip Matthews' consent, been assigned to Jacob Foster, grocer of London.

Matthews' name and location given as Sr. Phillipp Mathews of Great Gobyons in the liberty of Havering atte Bower in the County of Essex, Baronet.
